Perth Scorchers’ Craig Simmons is the fastest 100 scorer in the Big Bash League history.

Next is Mitchell Owen, who scored a century in the latest BBL season (2024/25), also reaching his hundred in 39 balls. Players like Glenn Maxwell and Chris Lynn are also among the fastest centurions.

1. Craig Simmons (39 balls)

A 39-ball hundred from Craig Simmons is the fastest 100 ever scored in the Big Bash League history.

He scored 102 from 41 balls with a strike rate of 248.78 and reached the milestone in just 39 balls. Perth Scorchers went on to win the match by five runs against the Adelaide Strikers after scoring 203 runs in the first innings.

2. Mitchell Owen (39 balls)

Mitchell Owen scored 39 runs off 39 balls against the Sydney Thunder in the 2024/25 BBL season. He hit 11 sixes and had a strike rate of 257.14.

He is seen as a future player for Australia’s white-ball team. His skill in hitting big shots is allowing him to rack up impressive runs. The Hurricanes chased the target of 183 in just 14.1 overs, and Owen’s fireworks led them to a dominant victory.

3. Glenn Maxwell (41 balls)

Glenn Maxwell scored an unbeaten 154 from 64 balls against Hobart Hurricanes in the 2021/22 BBL edition.

His innings included 22 fours and 4 sixes. As an opener, his key role helped the Melbourne Stars achieve the highest score in BBL history. Stars later won the match by 106 runs after posting 273 runs.

4. Josh Brown (41 balls)

Josh Brown, a powerful batter, scored a hundred off 41 balls against the Adelaide Strikers, leading his team, the Brisbane Heat, to a 54-run victory.

His 140 runs off 57 balls occurred in the 2023/24 edition of the Big Bash League. The innings featured 12 sixes. This innings is still regarded as one of the best big-hitting batting displays in the BBL.

5. Luke Wright (44 balls)

England’s all-rounder Luke Wright scored a hundred off 44 balls against the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2011/12 BBL season. This is the fifth fastest hundred in BBL history.

Opening the batting for Melbourne Stars, Wright’s strong performance helped the team score 203 runs for 3 wickets. The Stars won by 19 runs.

6. Ben McDermott (47 balls)

Aussie batter Ben McDermott scored 114 runs off 52 balls against the Melbourne Renegades. His performance helped his team chase a tough target of 223 runs.

The 30-year-old right-handed batter hit 9 sixes and 8 fours in his impressive innings. 

Playing at the No. 3 position in the batting order, Ben McDermott showed pure class and elegance with a spectacular century.

7. Callum Ferguson (48 balls)

Callum Ferguson’s 48-ball hundred against the Perth Scorchers is the 7th fastest BBL hundred so far.

Ferguson’s incredible knock came during the 2018/19 BBL season and scored 113 from 53 balls. Ferguson’s explosive innings helped the Sydney Thunder team reach the target of 182 runs in 19.2 overs.

8. Matthew Wade (48 balls)

Matthew Wade scored a quick hundred off 48 balls against the Adelaide Strikers. He played a very aggressive innings.

The left-handed batter scored 130 runs off only 61 balls and remained not out until the end of the innings. He hit 11 fours and 7 sixes, which added excitement to his performance.

9. Chris Lynn (49 balls)

Chris Lynn made a hundred off 49 balls against Brisbane Heat on December 29, 2015. In that inning, he hit five fours and seven sixes.

Unfortunately, the match did not end well for Lynn and the Heat, as they suffered a loss. Still, Chris Lynn’s innings was the standout moment of the game.

10. Matthew Short (49 balls)

Matthew Short, the captain of the Adelaide Strikers, scored a hundred in 49 balls. He helped his team reach one of the highest team total of 251/5 against Brisbane Heat.

He scored 109 runs off 54 balls, hitting 10 fours and seven sixes. His strike rate was 201.85, making it one of the best innings in Big Bash League history.
