Australia Women cruised to a 6-wicket victory over India Women at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane. India were bowled out for 214 in 48.3 overs despite Smriti Mandhana’s 58 and Harmanpreet Kaur’s 53. 

A crucial 53-run partnership between Harmanpreet and Kashvee Gautam (43) helped India past 200. Ashleigh Gardner claimed 3/33 while Alana King and Megan Schutt chipped in with wickets. 

Chasing 215, Australia lost Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll to Shree Charani in her first over. Beth Mooney joined captain Alyssa Healy to steady the ship with a 64-run partnership. Healy departed after reaching his fifty but Mooney carried on brilliantly. 

She struck 76 off 79 balls before falling to Deepti Sharma. Annabel Sutherland provided excellent support with 42* off 42 balls, finishing the chase with a six. Australia maintained their 21-0 record at this venue and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

First Innings Highlights

India lost Pratika Rawal first ball as Megan Schutt trapped her lbw for a golden duck. Shafali Verma struggled to 4 before chipping a return catch to Darcie Brown. 

Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues steadied the innings briefly before Ashleigh Gardner struck. Gardner’s off-spin accounted for Jemimah caught behind for 8. 

Mandhana reached 58 before attempting a sweep against Tahlia McGrath, only to be caught brilliantly by Alana King at fine leg. India slumped to 140/5 as Richa Ghosh fell for 23, caught by Georgia Voll off Sophie Molineux. 

Harmanpreet Kaur and Kashvee Gautam added a vital 53-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Harmanpreet reached 53 before Gardner pouched a superb diving catch at deep mid-wicket. 

Kashvee played aggressively, striking three fours and three sixes in her 43 off 44 balls. She was run out in the final over, attempting a risky single. Deepti Sharma and Kranti Gaud fell cheaply. Gardner finished with excellent figures of 7-0-33-3.

Second Innings Highlights

Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield got Australia off to a confident start. Litchfield looked fluent, striking six boundaries in her 32 before Shree Charani struck with her first ball. 

She had Litchfield stumped by Richa Ghosh. Charani struck the next ball, removing Georgia Voll for a golden duck caught at short extra cover. Beth Mooney joined Healy to repair the damage with a composed 64-run partnership. 

Healy reached her fifty off 69 balls before falling to Kranti Gaud, caught brilliantly by Jemimah Rodrigues at backward point for 50. Mooney continued her excellent form, striking five fours and two sixes. 

She brought up her fifty in style with a six off Shree Charani. Annabel Sutherland provided perfect support at the other end. The pair added 86 runs for the fourth wicket. Mooney fell for 76, caught by Smriti off Deepti Sharma. 

Sutherland remained unbeaten on 42 and sealed victory with a six over mid-wicket. Australia completed the chase with 70 balls remaining.
