The Australian Domestic One Day Cup is Australia’s main limited-overs cricket tournament. It started in the 1969/70 season. Since then teams like Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland have built strong reputations. They have won titles and shown great cricket skills over many seasons.
The tournament has been known by many different names over the years. It started as the V & G Australasian Knock-Out Competition. Then it became the Gillette Cup, McDonald’s Cup, FAI Cup, Mercantile Mutual Cup, ING Cup, Ford Ranger Cup, Ryobi One-Day Cup, Matador BBQs One-Day Cup, JLT One-Day Cup and now The Marsh Cup. The format has changed but the excitement stays the same.

1. South Australia (2024/25)
South Australia won its fourth One Day Cup title by beating Victoria. They won by 64 runs at Adelaide. SA batted first and scored 268 runs, losing 7 players in 50 overs.
Harry Nielsen scored 68 runs from 93 balls. Jake Lehmann also batted well with 67 runs from 76 balls. Liam Scott made 54 runs without getting out to help build a strong total. Victoria tried to get 269 runs but were all out for 204 runs in 43.3 overs. Will Sutherland scored 50 runs and Marcus Harris made 41 runs. But other players could not support them enough.

2. Western Australia (2023/24)
Western Australia won its third title in a row by beating New South Wales. They won by 5 wickets at Sydney with 100 balls left. NSW batted first but could only make 169 runs in 42 overs. Oliver Davies was the top player for NSW. He scored 51 runs from 53 balls. Moises Henriques made 32 runs and Daniel Hughes scored 25 runs. But the total was not big enough to defend.
Western Australia got 170 runs for 5 wickets in just 33.2 overs. Hilton Cartwright was the star player. He scored 73 runs without getting out from 80 balls. Josh Philippe also played well with 42 runs from 52 balls.Joel Paris bowled brilliantly for WA. He got 4 players out for only 21 runs. This bowling performance helped restrict NSW to a low total. It was an easy win for Western Australia.

3. Western Australia (2022/23)
Western Australia won their third title in a row in a huge victory. They beat South Australia by 181 runs at Perth. WA scored a massive 387 runs losing 7 players in 50 overs. Josh Inglis played one of the best games ever seen in a final. He scored 138 runs from 110 balls with 15 fours and 4 sixes. Cameron Bancroft made 90 runs and Mitchell Marsh scored 56 runs.
South Australia tried to get 388 runs but were all out for only 206 runs in 31.4 overs. Henry Hunt scored 50 runs and Kelvin Smith made 44 runs. But they could not handle the big target. Ashton Agar bowled really well for WA. He got 5 players out for 64 runs. Andrew Tye also helped by getting 3 players out for 34 runs. It was the biggest win in recent finals.

4. Western Australia (2021/22)
Western Australia won their second title in a row by beating New South Wales. They won by 18 runs at Melbourne. WA batted first and made 225 runs losing 9 players in 50 overs. Jhye Richardson played well for Western Australia. He scored 44 runs from 64 balls. Cameron Bancroft made 39 runs, and Shaun Marsh scored 29 runs.
New South Wales tried to get 226 runs but were all out for 207 runs in 46.3 overs. Daniel Sams played really well and scored 42 runs from 41 balls. Moises Henriques made 43 runs but NSW fell short.Andrew Tye bowled amazingly for WA. He got 4 players out for 30 runs. Aaron Hardie also helped by getting 3 players out for 41 runs. Western Australia defended their title successfully.

5. New South Wales (2020/21)
New South Wales won a big victory in the final. They beat Western Australia by 102 runs at Sydney. NSW scored 251 runs and lost 8 players in their 50 overs. Jack Edwards was the star player for NSW. He scored 108 runs from 122 balls. His big score helped NSW get a strong total. Daniel Hughes also played well with 58 runs from 102 balls.
Western Australia could only make 149 runs in reply. They were all out in 40.3 overs. Josh Philippe scored 14 runs and Cameron Green scored 36 runs. But it was not enough to win the game. Jimmy Peirson played the best for Queensland. He scored 79 runs from 83 balls. His runs helped Queensland get a decent total. But other players did not score many runs to support him.
Western Australia got 210 runs for 6 wickets in 48 overs. Shaun Marsh was the hero for his team. He scored 101 runs and did not get out from 132 balls. His century won the game for Western Australia. Jhye Richardson bowled well for WA. He got 3 players out for 35 runs. Nathan Coulter-Nile also got 3 players out for 47 runs to help win the game.

Victoria won their sixth One Day Cup title in a big way. They beat Tasmania by 110 runs at Melbourne. Victoria scored 274 runs in their 50 overs. This was a very good total. Cameron White played brilliantly for Victoria. He scored 88 runs from 96 balls. Marcus Harris made 45 runs and Peter Handscomb scored 49 runs. Their batting was very strong that day.
Tasmania tried to get 274 runs but could only make 164 runs. They were all out in 40.4 overs. Alex Doolan scored 46 runs but other players could not help him. Ben McDermott made 34 runs for Tasmania. Gurinder Sandhu bowled amazingly for Victoria. He got 7 players out for 56 runs. This was one of the best bowling performances ever seen in a final. Victoria won easily.

8. Western Australia (2017/18)
Western Australia won by 6 wickets against South Australia. The match was played at Hobart. South Australia batted first and scored 248 runs losing 9 players in 50 overs. Tom Cooper was the best player for SA. He scored 63 runs from 84 balls. Travis Head made 34 runs and Callum Ferguson scored 37 runs. But they could not get a bigger total.
Western Australia chased 249 runs in 43.4 overs. They won with 38 balls left. Mitchell Marsh played a great game and scored 80 runs without getting out from 80 balls. Cameron Bancroft made 76 runs from 83 balls. Shaun Marsh also played well with 32 runs. The WA team made it look easy in the end. Their batting was too strong for South Australia.

New South Wales won the final by 6 wickets against Queensland. The match was at North Sydney. Queensland went first but could only make 186 runs in 46.5 overs. This was not a big total. Usman Khawaja scored 35 runs for Queensland. Nathan Reardon made 27 runs but other players did not do well. The Queensland team struggled against good bowling from NSW.
New South Wales got 188 runs for 4 wickets in 43.1 overs. They won with 41 balls still left. Moises Henriques scored 85 runs and Kurtis Patterson made 77 runs without getting out. Their partnership won the game. Nathan Lyon bowled brilliantly for NSW. He got 4 players out for only 10 runs. This was amazing bowling in the final. Queensland could not handle his spin bowling.

10. New South Wales (2015/16)
New South Wales won the final by 9 wickets against South Australia. The match was at North Sydney. South Australia batted first and scored 221 runs in 46.3 overs. Tom Cooper played a brilliant innings of 105 runs. Callum Ferguson also made 61 runs. But most of the other players could not stay long. Their batting collapsed against the strong NSW bowling attack.
New South Wales chased the target easily. They scored 223 runs for just 1 wicket in 29.5 overs. Ed Cowan made 88 runs without losing his wicket. Steven Smith also played superbly with 84 not out. Nic Maddinson gave a fast start with 44 runs. Their batting was too strong for South Australia. NSW reached the target with 121 balls still left.
